The plans were announced by Boris Blokhin, Senior Managing Director for Sales and Business Development at the Moscow Exchange. According to him, the list will include bitcoin, ether and USDT, and they will be tradable from the start of the morning session to the end of the evening session.
Blokhin stressed that the exchange considers the launch timely and expects steady investor interest. Non-qualified investors will also be given access. Settlement and custody are expected to go through partner digital depositories, and swaps will be available for liquidity management.
He also noted that every week some crypto exchange leaves Russia or stops serving Russian clients. A regulated domestic venue could capture part of this demand.
For the Moscow Exchange, this is a chance to expand its range of products and increase commission income. The size of the effect will depend on actual demand, and trading volumes are not given in the sources.
